I do not know what it looks like, but here in Hamburg, with the astronomical spring start a week ago, the weather switched to a good mood. The ideal time to bring his business to front man and make him fit for the coming year.I'm very wetter. Not in the sense that the knee pulls me when rain raises, but I simply work better, have more energy and also get off the bed easier in the morning when the sun is shining outside. That is why the (slightly) warmer temperatures and the blue sky have motivated me to write about the basic clean-up and fresh start-up. Here they are:
My nine tips for spring cleaning in your own company
1. Clearing out
First and foremost, everything has to get old and negative. Because what weighs heavily on our shoulders keeps us from taking off. So sit down with a note and pencil (or the brainstorming utensils of your choice) and a cup of jasmine tea in the sun and think about what is currently pulling you down. Is there an order that is going to happen because it is simply not fun? Do you offer unprofitable products that make your portfolio look bad? Or do you have private stress, which takes you from the energy for the job? Found something? Then out with it! Now is the moment to free yourself from such burdens and to go through without reckoning and with new strength.
2. Make inventory
What remains after clearing out is to be examined and checked. Is your workplace the right one for you? Can you motivate yourself, for example, in the home office , or would it help you to rent a place in a coworking space ? Or do you have for your startup own Büroraume, but are not satisfied with the position of your desk? Then is now the time to change that! And what about your employees or partners? If there are any inconsistencies in the Argen, then use the moment to clear them out of the way.
3. Recycle
When clearing out and inventorying you have stumbled upon a few things that do not currently promote you, but are also too bad to "throw away", right? Excellent! Then it goes to recycling, upcycles. Because from the old spring cleaning in the company can easily be made new. Are there, for example, old offers that you can upgrade? For example, a workshop that could address entirely new target groups with a somewhat different approach? Or do you have products that you can reuse? A blog article, for example, whose topic would be great for a podcast? Or fabric residues from which you can now make a great patchwork blanket? Look also times in old notebooks. Perhaps there is still a never-implemented idea,
4. Arrange
Do you know that, too? Papers are piled up on various heaps in the study, business plans are written and then forgotten, calculations in the excel sheets in the depths of the hard disk in front of them. Stop it! Now we bring order to our business . This also means: paperwork, sorting, processing and filing. But above all: order your business plan! Are you still following the same goals as last year? Have your priorities or wishes changed? Back up all these thoughts once and make a strategy plan for the next year. Or the next five years. Write it down, set timings and deadlines. Establish concrete goals. Think about the steps you must take to achieve these goals, Who can help you, which hurdles you can get in the way and how you overcome them. And then print out your plan and hang it on the wall. End with "Out of sight, out of mind"! Now it is fixed and implemented!
5. Deleting
And indeed, unnecessary expenses. Take a close look at your finances and check where it may cost unnecessary costs. Check current contracts and compare if you can not open a better offer. Which subscription you wanted to cancel eh already a long time? And do you actually use all the tools for which you have a paid membership? Even if the contract term of your telephone provider has just extended for a year, now make nails with heads and change, otherwise you miss the jump next year again.
6. Remove dust
If then thank you business spring cleaning everything is up to date, transport this also to the outside. Is your logo still your company? Or could it be a bit refreshed? Is the look of your website still modern? Does your mission statement match what you are doing? What is your customer card? Are there maybe a few former Leads rum, one of your new products could fit super? Then the moment would have come to recall them.
7. Refresh
The most important asset of your company is, of course, yourself. Whether Solopreneur, self-employed, freelancer or company founder with a whole bunch of employees, the heart of your business beats in you. So invest in yourself and bring you up to date A training that you always wanted to do? Or a theme that a refresher would do you good? Money that you invest in your education (or your employees) is always right! If in the training course grad Ebbe is, there are also great free further education possibilities . So, no more excuses. There is always something to learn!
8. Packing
So, finish with deferment - now is being tackled. What unpleasant decision did you make before you? Meet them now! And then stand by. You are the boss - do your thing. Conduct the unpleasant conversation, negotiate for the better hourly rate . Take the last boring tasks behind you and then start with new vigor. You grab it!
9. Roll up the sleeves
Enough read, now it's up to you. Best at this moment, before the next e-mail or the next Twitter-Rant again from your course. Put the focus on your business and shake all the blankets. The winter sleep is over, now the hot phase begins.
